In case you missed service on November 2 or are a remote tracker of “all things NorthWood” here is a great video describing how we began working around the world in our unique, front door strategy.

The Costume Parade today was AWESOME! The kids were great. Thank you to 3rd, 4th, 2nd, and 1st grades for sharing their time with the Pre K and Kinder kids. THEY WERE SOOOOOO CUUUUTE!
The most touching costume of the day was one of the Third grade kids who had a Home Makeover. She dressed in a Blue NorthWood shirt and camo pants. When asked what her character was, she proudly replied. “I’m a Northwood worker!” I think this shows how blessed we are to have a church body who cares so much for our families, and how appreciative and special our kids are. I love this place!

The Cruz family (shown above minus dad) would like for everyone to know that they are so grateful for all of your prayers and that they have been felt…Javie is doing well and may be able to come home in a week! Last weekend, Javie was running a fever, but Maria explained that the doctor said that was good news; his body was fighting off the infection and it appears as though the bone marrow is taking hold. The last two visits we’ve made, Javie has been more lethargic and losing some hair. The nurse shaved his hair even shorter since it is coming out in splotches, but he still has his bright disposition and loves the attention that the nurses are giving to him (they dressed him up as “The Mask” on Friday)…and, of course, X-Box and movies are still popular.
Dulce has been back to school - and work - for a week now, and has been quite tired. She does like being back, but I’m afraid she may be over doing it with keeping the work hours. Every night, Javier, Sr. takes Dulce and Leslie to the hospital to visit Maria and Javie, and while that is a very hard schedule to maintain on top of a long work day, I know that they are so thankful to see the progress that Javie and Dulce have made.
Your hospital visits and food deliveries have been greatly appreciated…thank you, Northwood, for continuing to reach out to this family. As for food donations, please remember that the last day to make a donation to the Super Suppers “gift card” will be this Friday, November 7. We will then provide the Cruz family with the gift card from the Northwood family, so that they will be able to use it when it works best for their schedules.
As for donations to a Super Supper “general account” for the Cruz Family (sort of like a gift card for the Cruz family to use), you will need to do the following:
1. Call Super Suppers - Ft. Worth Hulen
6220 Hulen Bend Blvd
Fort Worth, TX 76132
(817) 423-1100
2. Ask for Jacob or Christian (one of the two managers who will know about this project)
3. Let them know you want to contribute to the Northwood Church Cruz Family gift card (they will take your donation over the phone by debit or credit card and that amount will be applied to the “general” gift card from all of NW donations)*
4. Voila! and thank you for your donations!
Many thanks for continuing to embrace this family with your prayers.

Hanoi is severly flooded and it continues to rain. GOOD NEWS. All of our team is okay.
Our plans for this trip have been changed, yet God has new plans. Today the entire team is heading to the flooded Birla Orphanage which is completely flooded to help in any way they need.
Please pray for:
- this city
- the rain to stop
- that our team continues to find deep joy despite the very changing circumstances
- The BBC news reports 19 dead because of this unprecedented flooding. Pray for their families.

Thank you so much to all our NorthWood Volunteers! You mean so much to our students!
A very vocal student, I’ll call him Jay, was able to demonstrate just how important you are in his life. A volunteer read with Jay for about 30 min.- “2 whole books and 81 pages.” His brain was “hurting from so many words!” Jay realized that he can read and he offered to read in his homeroom class for the first time this year. Gone were his refusals and usual “I can’t read” responses. He successfully read many of the same words that he had just practiced with his volunteer. The pride was clear in Jay’s voice when he explained his accomplishment and expressed for the first time in 3rd grade, “I really can read!”
For Jay, the change was immediate and visible. Yet even when unseen, you make a difference! Your love and attention means the world to every child that you touch with your generosity! Thank you all for your gifts of yourselves, your time, and your love for our kids!

It is just after 6:00 p.m. and I am exhausted physically, yet my heart, mind, and spirit are renewed. Nothing prepared me for what I experienced as a member of a NorthWood Home Makeover team
When I sat in the Worship Center and heard the words “Home Makeover,” I knew that (more…)

Hello everyone,
Thank you all for your prayers - Dulce and Javier, Jr. (Javie as his family affectionately calls him) came through with flying colors! Dulce had her surgery at 8:30am and by 12 pm, the doctors were delivering the bone marrow to Javie to be administered through an IV. It was about 6 pm when he completed the transplant. (more…)

Here is the modernized rendition of the Jonathan Edwards piece Jordan mentioned in his message on Heart’s Affection. That would be the 1700’s Puritan preacher, not the failed presidential candidate or the talk to the dead people kook.
